The HPE R0Q53A is a 900GB SAS hard drive for HPE MSA storage arrays. It spins at 15,000 RPM, connects at 12Gb/s, and comes in the 2.5-inch small form factor (SFF). HPE's full name is MSA 900GB SAS 12G Enterprise 15K SFF (2.5in) M2 3yr Wty HDD.
A 15K drive finds data faster than a 7200 RPM drive because the platters spin more than twice as fast. That helps databases, virtual machines, and other jobs that read small blocks all day.
HPE lists the R0Q53A for the MSA 1060, MSA 2060, and MSA 2062 families, including the MSA 2060 SFF drive enclosure. The spare part number is P13243-001. A full 24-bay enclosure holds 21.6TB raw.
These arrays use their own drive carriers, and HPE guidance says non-MSA drives aren't supported in them. The "M2" in the name stands for the MSA second-generation carrier. It has nothing to do with M.2 SSD sticks. Our SAS vs SATA guide covers the interface basics.
At 900GB, capacity is modest. The speed is the point. Fast drives like this usually hold hot data, while larger, slower drives hold the rest.

It's 2.5-inch SFF. HPE lists separate large form factor drives for MSA LFF enclosures, so check which enclosure you have.
They name the same drive. R0Q53A is the option part number. P13243-001 is the matching spare part number.
Not as a rule. It's built for MSA arrays and their carriers. HPE uses other part numbers for 900GB 15K SAS drives in ProLiant servers. Match the number to your system.
HPE also lists 10K SAS drives for the same arrays: 600GB (R0Q54A), 1.2TB (R0Q55A), 1.8TB (R0Q56A), and 2.4TB (R0Q57A). They trade speed for room.
The interface runs at 12Gb/s, which works out to about 1.2 GB/s per port.
