The IBM 95Y4811 and the IBM 47J0257 are two numbers for one module: a 64GB DDR4-2133 LRDIMM for IBM System x servers, which Lenovo now sells. It is quad rank with x4 chips, runs at 1.2V, and has 288 pins. The label reads 64GB 4Rx4 PC4-2133P-L.
| Number | What it is |
|---|---|
| 95Y4812 | Option number. Lenovo's name is 64GB TruDDR4 Memory (4Rx4, 1.2V) PC4-17000 CL15 2133MHz LP LRDIMM |
| 95Y4814 | Lenovo FRU (service) number |
| 47J0257 | Part number on the Lenovo label. Lenovo's support note pairs it with FRU 95Y4814 |
| 95Y4811 | Number that sellers list with the others |
Lenovo's feature code for the option is A5UK. TruDDR4 is Lenovo's name for memory it has qualified for its servers.
Lenovo's support note covers the Hynix build of this module. A label that reads HMAA8GL7MMR4N-TF T1, with 11S47J0257Yxx1MV in the barcode, should not go in an x3850 X6 or x3950 X6. A label that reads TF TD, with 11S47J0257Yxx0MV, is fine there. In those X6 servers Lenovo also caps the speed at 1600 MHz in lock-step mode, with two modules per channel at most.
Lenovo lists this module for the System x3550 M5, which takes up to 24 of them. Its note also clears the x3500 M5, x3650 M5, nx360 M5, and Flex System x240 M5. Lenovo says mixing RDIMMs and LRDIMMs is not supported.
These servers accept 2133 or 2400 memory. 2400 runs at full speed only with Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors. With a v3 processor, 2133 is the speed you get, which is 17 GB/s per module.
Load-reduced modules carry buffer chips that hide the load of all the memory chips from the controller. That lets a server hold more memory per channel. The trade is a little extra latency and some added power.
Yes. Both numbers name this 64GB module. Sellers list 95Y4811 with 95Y4812 and 95Y4814, and Lenovo ties 47J0257 to 95Y4814.
Yes. Lenovo bought IBM's System x line in 2014. The parts kept their numbers.
No. Load-reduced ECC modules need a server board.
