The HPE P06577-001 is an 800GB SAS solid state drive for HPE servers. It is a mixed use drive on a 12Gb/s SAS link, in the 2.5-inch size. It comes mounted in a Smart Carrier and runs digitally signed firmware.

With the carrier or without?

This number covers the drive with its carrier. HPE's parts list also shows P02995-001, which is the 800GB SAS drive without the carrier. If your failed drive still has a good carrier, that part may suit you. If you need the whole unit, quote P06577-001.

A small drive with clear jobs

At 800GB, this drive fits boot volumes, database logs and cache tiers in a server that needs a small, quick drive. Those jobs need quick, steady writes more than they need space. Mixed use drives are made for that steady mix of reads and writes. They suit any job that saves data all day. If your drive mostly serves reads, a read intensive model is the better fit.

Reading the number endings

HPE ends a spare number with -001 and an option number with -B21. That is a quick way to tell the two apart on a parts list. Both numbers here name the same 800GB drive.

Space from a group

Two of these drives in RAID 1 give 800GB of mirrored space. Four in RAID 5 give 2.4TB of usable space. Six in RAID 6 give 3.2TB.

One seller names DL, ML, BL, WS, SL and XL servers, and Synergy. Examples include the BL420c Gen8, the DL360 Gen10 and the ML350 Gen10. The seller notes the list may not be complete.

Swap checklist
