The 713985-256 is a set of sixteen HPE 16GB DDR3L-1600 RDIMMs that add up to 256GB. Each module matches HPE option part 713985-B21: dual rank x4, CAS 11, registered, low voltage. They are made for ProLiant Gen8 servers.
The L stands for low voltage. These modules run at 1.35V, where standard DDR3 needs 1.5V. Lower voltage means less heat and a smaller power draw, which adds up across sixteen sticks.

A PC3L module also works at 1.5V, so it fits servers set for standard voltage. If low-voltage and standard modules mix, the server usually runs all of them at 1.5V and the saving is lost.
PC3L-12800 moves 12.8 GB/s per module. HPE notes that this kit is supported with Xeon E5-2600 v2 processors. Mixed speeds fall to the slowest module, so keep the speeds matched.
Parts sellers list the 713985-B21 for the DL360p, DL360e, DL380p, DL380e, DL580, ML350p, SL270s, SL4540, BL460c, BL660c, and WS460c Gen8. On a two-CPU server, eight modules per CPU put two on every memory channel. Check HPE's list for your model.
HPE's own option number for one module is 713985-B21. The 713985-256 number names a set of sixteen of them. HPE's spare number for each module is 715284-001. Search either one and you find the same modules.
