The HP Color LaserJet Managed E85055dn (T3U66A#BGJ) is a print-only color laser printer. It has no scanner or copier. It runs at up to 55 pages a minute on letter paper and 56 on A4, in color or black. It can print on SRA3 sheets, so you can trim full-bleed A3 pieces.

In the box

• A locking kit with fixed-size tray guides and drum screws.

• One or two extra 550-sheet trays.

The starting supply is 650 sheets: a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and a 550-sheet tray. Add-ons raise the total to 4,450 sheets across six trays. Pages land in a 500-sheet bin. Paper weights run up to 300 gsm, and two-sided pages go up to 216 gsm.

Speed

On A3 paper the printer runs at up to 26 pages a minute. A5 pages fed sideways reach 35 a minute. The first page can be out in 5.9 seconds in black and 6.3 in color. Two-sided printing keeps the same speed as one-sided, and HP sets the duplex option to a paper-saving default.

Managed toner

HP's Managed black cartridge, W9010MC, is rated at about 37,500 pages. The color cartridges follow the same numbering, so check the label before you swap one.

Ports and memory

You get USB 2.0, a USB host port and Gigabit Ethernet. Memory is 1.5 GB, and PostScript is standard.
