The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dh (B5L27A) is a print-only color laser printer for letter, legal and A4 paper. It has no scanner or copier. It prints 40 pages a minute on letter paper and 38 on A4, in color or black.

The dh is the model for offices that want two-sided printing and stored jobs on a secure drive.
Two-sided printing runs at 38 images a minute on A4. The first page can be out in 6 seconds in black and 7 in color. Print quality reaches 1,200 x 1,200 dpi with HP ImageREt 3600, and Pantone calibration helps match brand colors. A 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB of memory run the jobs.
A 100-sheet multipurpose tray and a 550-sheet tray hold 650 sheets. Optional 550-sheet trays raise the total to 2,300 sheets. A 250-sheet bin catches the pages. Sizes run from 3 x 5 inches to 8.5 x 14 inches, and paper weight runs from 60 to 220 gsm.

The box holds starter cartridges, about 6,000 pages for black and about 5,000 for each color. HP's waste toner unit, the B5L37A, is rated at about 54,000 pages.
HP rates the duty cycle at up to 80,000 pages a month and suggests 2,000 to 6,000 pages. A 4-line color display with a keypad runs the menus, and wireless is an option. The printer measures 18 x 18.9 x 15.7 inches and weighs 59.5 pounds. The #BGJ ending marks the U.S. version.
