The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M681f (J8A12A#BGJ) is a mid-size color machine for an office team. It prints, copies, scans and faxes at up to 50 pages a minute on letter paper (47 on A4). The Flow label means faster scanning with extra tools.

From paper to file in four steps

1. Load up to 150 sheets in the document feeder.
2. Pick a place on the 8-inch touchscreen: email, a network folder, a USB drive, SharePoint, FTP or fax.
3. The scanner reads both sides in one pass at up to 180 images a minute on letter paper.
4. Built-in OCR makes the file searchable, and the scanner turns pages upright and crops them.

Fax

Fax is built in. It sends at 33.6 Kbps, about 3 seconds a page, and the memory holds up to 500 pages.

Paper and growth

It starts with 650 sheets: a 100-sheet tray and a 550-sheet tray. Output is a 500-sheet bin. You can add up to two more 550-sheet trays, a three-tray stand, or a stand with a 2,000-sheet tray. This model has no pull-out keyboard. The M681z has one.

Toner

• In the box: black at about 12,500 pages, color at about 10,500 pages each.
• HP 655A: CF450A black, CF451A cyan, CF452A yellow, CF453A magenta.
• HP 657X: CF470X black at about 28,000 pages, and CF471X cyan, CF472X yellow and CF473X magenta at about 23,000 pages each.

Size and security

This is the compact M681. It measures about 20 x 22 x 26 inches and weighs 94 pounds (42.8 kg). A 500 GB drive with AES 256 encryption stores jobs, and HP Sure Start checks the startup code each time the printer boots.

What the #BGJ means

The #BGJ at the end of the part number is HP's regional code. It marks the U.S. version of the J8A12A.
