The Grandstream DP720 is a DECT cordless handset for VoIP calls. It is the handset only, so it needs a Grandstream DECT base station to work. The base station is not in the box.
| Base station | Lines per handset | Outdoor range |
|---|---|---|
| DP750 | Up to 10 | 300 m (about 985 ft) |
| DP752 | Up to 10 | 350 m (about 1,150 ft) |
| DP755 | Up to 20 | 350 m (about 1,150 ft) |
Indoor range is up to 50 m (about 165 ft) with each base. One DP750 base pairs with up to five DP720 handsets.
The 1.8-inch color TFT screen shows 128 x 160 pixels and has a backlight. Two soft keys run the menus. A three-color light shows waiting messages.
HD audio runs on both the handset and the full-duplex speakerphone. The G.722 codec carries wideband voice, and G.726 handles narrowband. With a DP750 base, G.711, G.723.1, G.729A/B, iLBC and Opus also work. Echo cancellation and noise reduction keep calls clear. A 3-way call is built in, and a 3.5 mm jack takes a headset.
Two rechargeable AAA Ni-MH batteries (800 mAh) give up to 20 hours of talk time or 250 hours on standby. Those are lab figures. A full charge from empty takes about 12 hours. The handset sits in a charging cradle, and it can also charge through a micro-USB port.
Grandstream points the DP720 at mobile staff such as warehouse supervisors and retail workers. The handset lets them take calls away from a desk. Menus include English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Korean.
DECT authentication and encryption protect calls and accounts. The base station handles setup with TR-069 or XML files, and Grandstream's UCM IP PBX can configure it automatically. The menus come in many languages.
