The Dell EMC 005051586 is a 400GB SAS solid state drive for Unity storage arrays. It is a 2.5-inch drive on a 12Gb/s SAS link. Dell lists it as model D3FC-2S12FX-400 and calls the drive type SAS Flash 2.

Dell's drive matrix says 400GB SAS Flash 2 drives work for FAST Cache, FAST VP tiers and all-flash pools. It also says the 400GB SAS Flash 3 drive is not supported in FAST VP mixed pools, and points to SAS Flash 2 for those. So pick SAS Flash 2 when you expand a mixed pool.
Each enclosure type needs a minimum Unity operating environment. The 25-slot enclosure needs version 4.0.0.7329527 or later. The 80-slot enclosure needs 4.2.0.9392909 or later. Check your array's version first.
The 400GB SAS Flash 3 drive has a similar name. Its model ends in FXL, as in D3-2S12FXL-400, and it has different part numbers. Dell says it is not supported in FAST VP mixed pools, so do not swap it in for this drive.
Each drive holds 400GB. Four drives give 1.6TB of raw space, and eight give 3.2TB, before any RAID overhead. Plan the pool size first, then count the drives.
