The Crucial T705 4TB is an M.2 solid state drive for PCs and workstations with a PCIe 5.0 slot. Part number CT4000T705SSD3 is the version without a heatsink. The version with one carries the code CT4000T705SSD5.

Reads reach up to 14,100 MB/s and writes reach up to 12,600 MB/s. For small random work, it reaches up to 1,500,000 reads and 1,800,000 writes per second. In a PCIe 4.0 slot the drive still works, but the slot caps its speed.
TBW is the total data you can write over the life of the drive. At 4TB, a rating of 2,400 TBW equals 600 full drive writes. Most desktop and workstation jobs write far less.
Fast drives make heat. Keep air moving over the slot, and fit the heatsink cover that came with your board. Most boards with a PCIe 5.0 slot include one.
A 100GB file at 12,600 MB/s writes in about eight seconds. That speed holds while the drive's fast cache has room. Very long writes can slow down once the cache fills, which is normal for TLC flash.
The drive pairs a Phison E26 controller with Micron 232-layer TLC flash. It also carries LPDDR4 memory, about 1GB for each 1TB of flash, to keep data lookups fast.
