The Cisco Catalyst C9606R is a six-slot, 8U rack-mountable chassis for the Catalyst 9600 Series. It provides the physical platform for modular enterprise switching deployments, giving network teams a defined chassis reference for planning compatible modules, rack space, power, cooling, and system architecture.
Use this chassis for enterprise core or distribution switching, network expansion, infrastructure refreshes, and modular Catalyst 9600 deployments that require a six-slot platform.
Requires compatible Catalyst 9600 line cards, supervisors, power supplies, fans, software, and rack infrastructure. Confirm module support, power and cooling design, and installation requirements before deployment.
C9606R is the central hardware foundation for compatible modular Catalyst 9600 systems. Planning the supported module mix, rack capacity, power budget, and cooling before purchase helps teams build a complete chassis configuration rather than treating the chassis as a standalone switch.
