The Cisco IP Phone 8851 (CP-8851-3PCC-K9) is a SIP desk phone with a 5-inch color screen and five line keys. The 3PCC in the part number means it carries Cisco multiplatform firmware. Read the checks below before you plan a rollout.
The 5-inch widescreen shows 800 x 480 pixels in 24-bit color and has a backlight. Five programmable line keys sit beside it, and four soft keys run the call menus. A four-way pad with Select handles menus. Fixed keys cover conference, transfer, hold, apps, directories and messages. The phone also runs XML apps.
The handset and the full-duplex speakerphone both use wideband audio. The handset works with hearing aids.
You can connect a headset three ways: the RJ-9 headset port, the side USB port or Bluetooth 3.0 EDR. The Bluetooth range is up to 66 ft (20 m). The USB port can also charge a mobile device at up to 500 mA.
Two gigabit Ethernet ports link the phone and a computer. PoE (802.3af) powers the phone. A PoE injector or the Cisco Power Cube 4 is an option.
The phone takes up to two key modules, either the CP-BEKEM-3PCC or the CP-8800-A-KEM-3PC.
A two-position foot stand holds the phone on a desk, and the screen does not tilt. Cisco's wall mount kit, CP-8800-WMK, is optional. Cisco also sells a version without Bluetooth, the 8851NR, for sites that do not allow radios.
You get the phone, a handset with cord, a desk stand and a network cable. The firmware suits hosted voice platforms as well as open SIP systems, so ask your provider if the phone is on its list.
