The AudioCodes 405HD (UC405HDEG) is an entry-level two-line IP phone for everyday office use. It has a backlit monochrome screen, four soft keys and dual gigabit ports. It runs on PoE, and a power supply is not in the box by default.

Sound

A full-duplex speakerphone and HD wideband voice keep calls clear. The phone supports G.711, G.722, G.729, Opus and SILK. A local 3-way conference and network conferencing are built in.

Call features

It handles call waiting, hold, transfer, forwarding, do not disturb, speed dial, call logs, call pickup, shared line appearance and call park. Hot line and boss and admin modes are on the list too. Caller ID and a message light are built in.

Quality monitoring and setup

The phone works with voice quality monitoring tools, and AudioCodes auto-provisioning helps an admin deploy many units. The menus come in many languages. The handset has a curly cord.

In the box

You get the phone, a handset with cord, a stand and an Ethernet cable. Ask the seller about a power supply, since listings differ.

Power and security

The phone takes 802.3af PoE. A 12 V DC adapter is an option for desks without PoE. 802.1x, SRTP and HTTPS support protect the phone and its calls.
